I think the users on this site are great considering this is The Internet. We have almost nothing in common and yet the vast majority of commenters treat each other with respect and dignity, even when we disagree. People collaborate and help each other here.

Reddit is an absolute cesspool. Minor differences of opinion immediately devolve into disrespect and contempt. The updoots encourage soapboxy fakery and discussions are almost always in bad faith
