26-yr old girl from Tennessee who bench presses 250. Is she on this site?

With proper set up, with shoulders down, tight scapula, feet pushing to the ground and arching, you use your lower back muscles for stabilization and your traps and lats at the lowest part of the push. Just google some guys that only compete in bench press and look at their back muscles. You just cant bench massive weights without having strong back muscles. I competed in powerlifting, bench press was my weakest lift, my PR is 230/140/257,5 kgs at 87kg BW and my bech press was very back driven since my back muscles were stronger then my chest.

> > Clearly a misstatement at best. There is no gym with dozens of girls benching 250. He mentions that some don't even look muscular. A classic case of trolling or he confused ounces with pounds. A guy using google or trolling.

Seems like you are the troll here. I am working as a trainer myself and know the weights and the capabilites of our clients. I also saw more than one gym from the inside to get an overall pircture of common female training progresses. People here on GWM seem to be far off from reality so sometimes I can't withstand and post the obvious. In general I have given up on discussions with people living in their own bubbles. So take it or leave it.

I'll let the post speak for itself. I have been around many of the best fbbs of all time along with all kinds of women of strength. I lived it for 35 years and now am 60, so not so much now. I still follow the sport. The idea that his statements are true is possible if he works out at the greatest gym of all time including Muscle beach in it's prime. They did not even have near that. He said something about people here living in a bubble. May want to look in the mirror before you accuse. 250 is a tremendous lift for a girl on the bench. He described some girls as not looking the part but benching 250. You people can decide for yourselves. Some photos would be welcome as all 250 pound benching girls would qualify for this site.

Are you sure about that? Over 220-lbs and dozens? Are those the most elite women in the world at your gym?

Absolutely. There are crossfit girls under 18 who can bench 225 lbs. I'd post some here if it wasn't against the rules. A woman benching 250 lbs is impressive, but it's not rare or even extraordinary anymore. 25-30 years ago it was a lot less common, but there are a whole lot more women in the gym now. The women's UNEQUIPPED bench press record now is 457 lbs.

I think the question boils down to how many are doing it naturally. There have always been girls who had to lift weights for various sports. Nothing new there. But the odds of any doing massive without male hormones would be slim to none unless they are in the over 200-lb category. Then benching your bodyweight but what gym has dozens of women over 200-lbs lifting their bodyweight?

And if we are looking at this post in context, it is for unequipped, tested/drug-free lifts as that's the standard the average person would be thinking of when you tell them how much you bench. High school football players who were benching over 200-lbs while being under 200-lbs actually looked the part. You'd guess they were truly that strong by how they were built so I'd be hard-pressed to believe a girl lifting over 200-lbs, over 1X her bodyweight, doesn't look that strong. And this is for drug-free, unequipped lifts.

If we're going by equipped lifts then year there are plenty of high school girls in Texas lifting 200-lbs in THSPWA. But they are also using single or multi-ply lifts. I forgot the standard.

Dozens of them in one CrossFit gym? Think about that. Unless it is the only gym in an extremely populated area, then times have not changed that much. There are not girls all over the place benching 225. There are more than ever, but not dozens in one gym unless he's training dozens of the greatest CrossFit girls in the world....all at his gym. The world record is a big difference from a Crossfit gym in one area. The girl posted in the thread is built like a tank and he's talking about dozen's at his gym doing that and some not even muscular. I wish it was true.

She's truly built like a tank and walks like a machine lol. Every woman in that video has huge calves.
