I'm on the fence with this one.
On the one hand I'd love to help and I know she's been bodybuilding for decades now so I know how much it means to her, but on the other hand this knee issue she has doesn't sound like something that will ever fully heal. If she has these treatments and goes right back into bodybuilding (and let's not kid ourselves, pro level bodybuilding is one of the most physically intense things you could do), she could end up crippling herself or worse. She's getting up there in age, and she even points out that she has osteoarthritis in both knees. She'd be taking an enormous risk.
I'd be all for her having these treatments to help her recover, but it really makes me uneasy that she'd go back to bodybuilding after that.

I hear what you're saying but there's not much you can do here. She needs this operation to save what she's got, whatever decision she's going to make after that will be hers. All you can do is support her.
But she smashed her knee and then continued to pulverise it with insane training for at least 3 years? She needs taking in hand and being told to STOP. Anyone who donates is aiding and abetting a mentally ill person on a path of self-harm and destruction. Her focus needs to be on making sure she can walk unaided when she's 50, not continuing her pro-bodybuilding career.
Helle is featured in this mini-doc called "Iron Sisters". From that doc alone, you can tell she is passionate about bodybuilding. She will most definitely try training again after treatment. I think it's time for her to hang up her jersey, though.
Is she American?
If she's originally from a European (guess) country that has free healthcare...maybe get the op done there?
All my donation money goes to either Ukraine or the City Mission here in Auckland (NZ).

Reminds me of Ronnie Coleman, who, after difficult and expensive surgery decided to go full "YEAHHH BUDDY" and made his intervertebral discs into breadcrumbs. My favorite cautionary tale
Only $1.3K raised so far
I ask you for your help to save my knees. My left knee is the worst (stage 4 osteoarthritis). My right knee is a stage 2/3. I do not wish to have a knee replacement. This is an invasive knee surgery that will end my career. With these treatments, I’ll be able to recover rather quickly with good results. I have given the sport 20 years as a professional and 34 years in training. I’m not done. I refuse to be done. I want to compete again. I’d like to give back to you guys who want to help me restore my knee health. I want to be able to walk, jump, and train again with joy, not pain.

I think it's an obsession for many. Her body is falling apart here, and instead of just getting treatment to heal herself and live a normal life, she's trying to get back into the thing that's destroying her body.
I'm probably in the minority here of those who come to this site, not for pro FBBs. I just don't care for the look or almost killing themselves to get on the competition stage.
Funnily enough, Helle did the same thing, paid for an expensive surgery and started lifting without taking a rest. As a result re-injured herself.
She travelled 24-48 hours later from her knee surgery in Switzerland to Sweden then to Colombia in a wheelchair. This is her most recent video of her in Colombia lifting before her knee got reinjured. Look at her size she's got to be 200lbs+ no wonder her knees are messed up. I bet if she was 170lbs her knees would feel so much better.

Thank you, thats hilarious, I just hope that whichever hopeless redacted gives her 200+ bucks he will skip on the life coaching session because i dont believe she is the person to go for any advice on life
Aaaaand there it is. Sketchball stem-cell clinic mentioned. BioXcellerator has already received false advertisement warnings from the FTC.
I am as excited as anyone for the possibilities of regenerative medicine. Safe, effective regenerative therapies are the "moon shot" of our time, and offer tantalizing possibilities for those with osteoarthritis and many other conditions. But this excitement among the public has opened the door for dubious clinics, often in exotic locales to dodge regulatory oversight, offering stem-cell or gene-therapy miracle cures at premium prices, when the treatments in question are highly, highly experimental at best and scams that could lead to injury, severe illness, or death at worst.
I would no more contribute to Helle's stem-cell therapy than I would to Andy Kaufman's psychic surgery.
Sadly looks like she is undergoing knee surgery again this time on both knees.

She really needs to retire from competition but refusing to do so.
“In February I had surgery on my left knee. I had bone fragments and bone cysts removed, as well as a clean-up/polish of the backside of my kneecap. It made my knee function better, but the reality is that this damage was due to cartilage loss. My cartilage is worn so thin that I’m walking and training with a joint that’s bone on bone. Yes I’m still training as I think it’s important to remain active, but my weights are limited to body weight or max 20LBS weights. To be able to compete as a Pro I need well functioning knees that I can load. I’m hoping with this new treatment to be able to regrow my cartilage and step on stage next year. I don’t just need this surgery to compete, but to be able to live a pain free and mobile life for many years”
“Surgeries are expensive and I do not have Health insurance. If you’re in the position to help I’d appreciate it. If all my followers donates $10 cents I would be able to pay off all the surgeries. Food for thought. Every gesture matters”
I was going to click the link and then after only reading the comments like just about everybody on the internet does, I am passing judgment without reading the link. I wouldn't waste your time and money on this. She needs to hang it up....Her body is falling apart from he intense stress she put it under the last 30 years. She's not 28. Would you spend thousands of dollars/euros on a beat up old car that should be parked or headed to the junkyard? There comes a point when she doesn't even know when to stop. Body Image issues, self esteem issues, narcissism, whatever it is, that is what's forcing her into further undoing anything this gofundme could provide. No thanks....I'm sitting this one out.

Injuries suck and to an extent I feel bad because as a strength athlete it takes such a toll on you both physically and mentally. But it's hard to sympathize when she has already had surgeries and immediately went back to full-scale training without rest and sticking to proper rehabilitation. While Father Time is undefeated on aging athletes, you can still train at a relatively high level if you are smart with your programming and emphasize longevity, but it sounds like she either doesn't know how to do that or doesn't want to.
Furthermore, it is reckless to be an athlete of any kind without health insurance. Paying for insurance sucks, and it can be expensive, but injuries that require surgery are even more expensive. And if you are an athlete, you WILL get injured. You might not get an injury that requires surgery if you're lucky, but you are going to get hurt and will need treatment at some point.
I’m not giving her an excuse, but it’s probably very difficult to get insurance for her since she doesn’t seem to live in one country for more than a few months.
I hate to sound harsh, but all the more she should warrant training less or stepping away altogether. This sounds like an entirely self-created problem. It’s like that saying, “Everything in moderation, even moderation.” Exercise is great but if it puts your health at risk, reconsider

Part of being a professional athlete is knowing when it's time to walk away. Michaela Aycock went through the same thing with her knee issues, and smartly decided to step back. Look at Ronnie Coleman: dude is now in a wheelchair because of how much he abused his body and didn't let himself heal after multiple surgeries. At least he was a multi-time Mr Olympia champion and is probably very financially well-off, but the vast majority of bodybuilders, Helle included, aren't that lucky.
It makes me feel sad reading the part about needing this surgery to continue her pro career on her GoFundMe, but unfortunately it's probably time to walk away from bodybuilding. After healing she can still lift, but she's going to have to be ok with downsizing.
Helle Trevino seems to be in desperate need with her career in the balance.
