Once again, what the actual fuck are you talking about?

Point to the policy, or event.

Right, that's not "no borders". That's changing the process for legal asylum seekers with court cases back to what it was previously. You should read your own links.

The idea of "no borders" or "open borders" was never meant to be taken literally, though that is what the Joe-Kamal administration used for its campaign (possibly to turn more states perma-blue like California) and we've been worse off with the lax security since then. The National Border Patrol Union definitely wasn't feeling it.

From my German perspective, it seems really grotesque to elect this guy twice. I won't get into detail why, because it's just getting ridiculous, but just considering the four seasons debacle, how dare they and their supports call the DEM candidates "incompetent"?

Seems like you can get away with anything in US politics nowadays.

I wouldn't point fingers, my German friend, considering how politicians the world over have gotten away with (mass) murder. I won't pretend that Trump is a leader who's always played by the rules and never told a lie any more than I would Kamala; however, electing progressive-minded, nervously-cackling Kamala would have been the actual gross move as her merits were skin and vagina-deep.

Have fun with your mass migration over there. Very healthy leadership you got. Great job with nordstream 2 as well. I wouldn't work about America.

Do you vote in the US elections? Were you alive for the 4 years he was president prior? There were no wars started, the US was energy independent and even exporting, interest rates were low which made home ownership affordable for the middle class. Food was affordable. Did it ever cross your mind that maybe we’re tired of the globalism and what other countries think, and just want a strong national identity with a populace that understands men can’t get pregnant?

His policies worked before and they’ll work again. If you hate the policies so be it, but you can’t deny that the hate for him gets in the way of your rationale

Thank you for not allowing another lefty get away with writing checks with their mouths that their asses can't cash. They're all so quick to parrot baseless MSM tripe about Trump, but not one of them can ever seem to come up with any examples of his actions that would justify their ridiculous rhetoric and childish narratives. Their TDS, combined with the debilitating state of cognitive dissonance they suffer with, prevents them from having any ability to critically think. Children and young adults are no longer being taught 'how' to think, but rather they are being indoctrinated into the lefts culture of envy and hate by way of being taught 'what' to think.

Four seasons debacle? You either didn't pay attention in 2016-2021, or you're more concerned with ideology than results. Grotesque are politicians like Annalena "no matter what my German voters think" Bärbock or your currently collapsed government, so worry about your own country instead of casting measly potshots at others.

Ya, Giuliana and Co staging a press conference at Four Seasons Landscaping, next to a sex toy store. Peak incompetence.

Disclaimer: I voted for Harris/Walz and am strongly against Trump. Last night obviously didn't go as I wanted it to, and while it was honestly a shock when Trump took North Carolina and basically cruised to victory, looking back on what lead to that it honestly doesn't surprise me for several reasons:

First and foremost, there is a lot of blame to be had on the Democratic party. We have had three elections with rather weak candidates. I have been registered to vote since 2006, and the last presidential election where I felt genuinely excited and confident with who I was voting for was back in 2012. To put it bluntly, Biden is not a good president, and he got his win by basically not being Trump, and Harris did not do enough to separate herself from him. She had the challenge of having a shorter campaign window, but I feel that she went into it with I think a bit too much overconfidence in relying on a voter base that traditionally leans to the left. I wouldn't say she took advantage of them, but I think she assumed that those votes were guaranteed, but as the numbers showed, that was not what happened this election, ESPECIALLY amongst Latino men, which is my demographic.

And with regards to campaign strategy: she spent way too much time attacking Trump as opposed to detailing her planned policies and actions as President. For those of us who are against Trump, we already know all the things that she is attacking him on from just listening to him talk. It's a waste of time because attacking him isn't going to change the hearts and minds of his supporters or really those of the undecided. It's far more effective to talk about what you're going to do in office especially given that many Americans are struggling with rising prices and a tightening labor market. What's a common argument that you hear from Trump supporters? "He tweets mean things, but he helps me live better." Even if he can't and doesn't do those things (more on that later,) that is what the majority of the electorate will focus on, and that's what you have to tactically approach.

The other issue the Democratic has is that they are viewed by the right at the party of "elites," and they haven't done really anything to quell that. Trump is as populist as a candidate can get (and yes, the irony of him being that while he is a billionaire businessman is not lost on me,) and while nobody would mistake him for a member of Mensa, he is very, very good at cultivating a cult of personality persona. There is a reason that Trump says that he "loves the poorly educated." Not many people know what the extent of a president's power is, and he is very good as making promises along with casting blame on things that have little impact from the executive branch (like inflation.) He also is good a stoking fear, like his claim about there being open borders despite border crossings actually going down, or violent crime being a major issue despite it actually going down. Why read boring statistics from a dry analytical article or paper when you can hear a charismatic speaker stoke the flames of fear, along with him saying that anything that goes against what he is saying is "fake news."

You can't sway those supporters towards you, so Harris should have focused on not just her own party but the undecideds. Her losing wasn't just because of a "red wave," but also because of voter apathy where registered voters were not turning out to support her. And I say this as someone who was for her from pretty much her announcement of running: I went to the polls with a lot of apathy with the only motivation being that I didn't want four more years of Trump. That may have worked for Biden but you can't rely on the same strategy twice.

And to put it bluntly there are supporters who are for Trump because of racism, sexism and discriminatory attitudes towards LGBT individuals. Trump is a bully and acts like a bully towards people who question and challenge him. But unfortunately, you can't be guaranteed victory by calling out those behaviors. You have to win by policy strategy and separating yourself from an unpopular administration along with never assuming that you'll always have support from traditionally supportive demographics. Harris made all those blunders, and it cost her the election.

This is actually a very well thought out comment. I agree with what you’re saying. Harris’ campaign relied too much on voters who were already against Trump. It was the undecided that they needed to focus more on. It’s true that the Democratic Party is just as elitist as the Republican Party. They just try to hide it more than the red side.

With all that being said, I hope for everyone who voted Trump, they get what’s coming for them. They wanted this administration so I hope they get everything that comes with it. This election has made me more apathetic towards the common person.

I'd definitely prefer if Trump didn't win but both parties are basically right wing at this point and I'm tired of pretending they aren't. I still voted but there's no real progressive option and I've lost faith in the system to give us another one. Voting is ultimately a distraction and we should be more focused on what's in front of us and what we can actually do to affect change right now imo (like protesting, strikes, mutual aid, organizing, unionizing, local politics, forming and building communities back up in general).

Voting is more important than the other activities you mention, while they can help--if the right person wins--because of the vote.

I think the US will be better off with Trump than it would have been Harris. It was not much of a choice. I don't get all these depressed people who said the election was about "democracy" and we had a clear winner this time. It was not a 4 day wait like 2020. Trump's economic policies worked much better than Biden-Harris pre Covid. There was no inflation with the tariffs. You can't listen to the MSM which is a cartel for Democrats. If they mattered so much, then Harris would have won. That goes for Hollywood and TV celebrities and their echo chamber of lies. Trump was convicted on a bogus charge that should have stayed a dead case. It was all political. The 1/6 case may have had some legs but not now.

The money was all with Harris. The idea elections can be bought was knocked out too. Harris spent 3 times the money and lost. Democrats lost the Senate. 45% of Hispanic voters went Trump. One Texas country on the border went 93% Trump amongst Hispanics. He had a broad coalition and picked up more of the black male vote than any GOP candidate this century. He won white women too. It was blowout in today's politics. The house has yet to be determined. I have concerns about Trump surely but most of this is overblown media BS.

Yup, it was a clear message by the people. They've had enough of the establishment, identity politics, open border, and managed decline of the last 35 years.

My honest, genuine bad. I had a brain fart while reading moppm's post and somehow interpreted his "four seasons" as alluding to the four years of Trump's first presidency. Doesn't help that I fail to see how a post-electoral fait-divers should weigh against accusations of another candidate's lack of competence, but my bad nonetheless.

Of course we are aware that the Biden Administration did not literally declare an end to the border. How can you attempt to build an argument on such a pedantic point and expect to be taken seriously?

Anyone who comes through Mexico and claims to be seeking political Asylum is already in a safe country. If they proceed further, they are economic migrants not political Asylum Seekers. It is an abuse of the system and a betrayal of the American people to allow this mass migration through executive orders that conflict with established law. If the Biden Administration believed we should be accepting economic migrants, they should make that argument to the Congress and change migration law, not abuse or expand the definition of political Asylum.

Watching from the distance - and taking the reason for it, the two candidates, out of the equation: I have never seen a such a one-sided coverage in any election. I could switch on any random local news channel, and got a warm recommendation for Harris. Local politicians joined in, ex US presidents went on stage, comedians, musicians. Republicans openly spoke out for the dem candidate. CNN is the only channel to the US here in Austria, at least they gavce a bit of a try to get republican opinions on the screen, but at the end it was a harsh recommendation, too

Years ago, any people trying to vote for the rival candidate would have cracked down, but this year it just didnt work anymore. Seems like it was not a vote for political content, but a fight for the principals of democracy: top down vs bottom up, traditional media vs social media, the girl next door vs the star on stage. The democrats will survive that, they simply need to change their tactics, but it will send shockwaves to mainstream media: they gave everything, and failed to deliver. Thats for sure.

  • The US population has increased, so it stands to reason that there will be more guns, of course.
  • When you conflate things like abortion and migration with human rights, I suppose you can say there will be less of that, yes.
  • You mean less regulation and anticompetitive practices in healthcare.
  • With the upcoming pardons of political prisoners, there will be less people in prison.
  • "Every person for themselves" is one of the things that got your country in this mess in the first place. Now you'll just have to deal with the course correction that was due.

So yes, "yay, America". Good for you guys.

Did the military mandate the vaccines under Trump? What about OSHA? Lmao

Umm, perhaps you have never heard of polio or measles or whooping cough or any of the many vaccines necessary to serve in the military.

Your belligerent obtuseness fails to make your point and honestly just points out that you NEVER SERVED your country. But you go on believing you are a patriot, we will just be over here laughing at you.

I love how everyone is just ignoring how utterly incompetent and disingenuous Kamala is as a person. She's so weak and incapable it's insane. What a horrible candidate, the most intellectually challenged of any candidate in American history.

Opinion backed up by zero data. She was a senator and a state prosecutor before running for VP... what was Trump besides a daddy's boy who bankrupted a casino and hung with Jeffery Epstein. Talk about unqualified.
