Bodybuilder tag spam?

May 29, 2022 - edited May 30, 2022 - permalink

Has the tag "Bodybuilder" been overused lately? I've seen several photos of models with this label who are clearly not bodybuilders. Honestly, I think this tag, along with the figure/fitness tag has always made searches more difficult, rather than easier.

Not really any more than other tags being used for things that barely have a resemblance to the thing being tagged.

Like Breath of the Wild is NOT an RPG lol

I thought you were talking about Instagram tags. There are hundreds of fitness pages now and imagine when one picture gets popular and suddenly you get bombarded with tags blowing up your dms.

The tagging system on this website is pretty flawed. Like does 'overall physique' mean physique competitor or the entire body of one woman? Why is there no bikini or wellness tag? I think in this case, people will use the bodybuilder tag for any woman as long as she competes even though there's a specific category called 'bodybuilding.' Man, the English language is confusing AF.

I use "Bodybuilder" when I have to tag any particular Physique competitor doing / practicing her routine, so...guilty as charged. But I'd also like to mention that yes, while putting as many tags as possible will make your upload pop up in more searches, please don't abuse it: just because I can see the woman's arms doesn't automatically imply tagging "delts/shoulders-biceps-triceps-forearms-traps". This way, searching by tags basically becomes useless.

Regarding partypete973's question...I personally use "Overall Physique" when there's no particular muscle group being emphasized, as in, a full body picture without a particular "muscle" pose. I don't know if that's the correct use of the tag, though.
