My fear is Hollywood will either cast She Hulk with someone skinny and use CGI to supplement muscles.
Actually a film site before Christmas said that an actress had been cast for the role a Canadian actress who had been in something I'd never heard of it. I think their was a photo of her and I was completely underwhelmed put it this way she made Gal Gadot look like Amonzika!
Tatiana Maslany was cast as She Hulk. She's not big at all but she's in good shape and she has a lot of control over her physicality in her acting. I think she will be an interesting choice. The thing is, for a streaming show, can they do the same kind of CGI they do in an Avengers movie? I'm not sure how they will handle it.
They cast Tatiana Maslany. She did a show called Orphan Black which I didn't watch but I hear she was amazing in it. But on the front we care about she is a smallish woman with no muscle to speak of. I have to believe it's going to be CGI. Which is disappointing but understandable. There are very few muscle girls in Hollywood much fewer that I think could act to the level you would need to carry a show of this level. That's nothing against them they just haven't been given the chance. The closest we have is Gina Carano and she isn't a great actress. I'm wondering if she is going to be She Hulk full-time. Like Tatiana, is mainly a voice actress or are they going to change the character and have her switch back and forth like the Hulk (for those who don't read comics. She Hulk is much more in control of her alter ego and lives much of her life as the She Hulk rather than scrawny Jennifer Walters.)
Tatiana Maslany is tiny, and I doubt a TV show has the CGI budget to do a convincing digital makeover. It would need to be as good as Scarlet Johanson's cgi body in ghost in the shell.
They could do a couple of things. Nothing we are going to like unfortunately. One is have her only be She Hulk some of the time. Bank on the fact that you have a marketable start and put her in as many scenes as possible as just herself then just break out the CGI a little at a time or even worse save up their money for one big scene in the final episode. Two is completely change the look of the character. Have Tatiana work out some so she has a least a small amount of muscle and have her turn green and she just play the character at the size she is in real life.
They have said that these shows are going to be on par with the movies as far as looks. And going by the Mandalorian (I know that's Star Wars and Not Marvel but its still Disney+ ) I tend to believe them. It's not the budget that worries me so much as Hollywood's general distaste for muscular women. Even if they go full blown CGI I don't think She Hulk is going to be as super muscular as we would like. Hopefully I'm wrong and we get the show of our dreams.

Oh, trust me. Just because it's going to be a Disney Plus exclusive show doesn't mean Disney is going to half ass the production. That includes the CGI. The Mandalorian is a TV show on Disney Plus and it's budget and production quality are very top tier. And the same can he said for the upcoming Falcon & The Winter Soldier. Disney is definitely not cutting any corners with these Disney Plus shows.
I fully believe the She-Hulk show will be a mix the original Savage mini and the most recent mini. She'll be green largely off-screen or in heavy shadow for the majority of the series with only the last episode or two giving us a good look. It'll be treated like the PTSD angle from the last awful mini with limited comedic elements. Which is the last thing any long-time fan wants but I'm pretty sure we're all used to disappointment now.
Maslany is an outstanding actress, so I approve of the choice from that angle. But I can't lie, I'd have loved to have seen a tall, powerful woman cast who had real muscles instead of an entirely CGI representation. Problem is there aren't really any good actresses who are beautiful, muscular and 6-foot-7.
I always thought the 6-foot-3 volleyball player Gabrielle Reece would have made a good She Hulk though and she does have personality and potential as an actress.
But I think it's obvious how this will go now. Maslany will be Jennifer Walters and the She Hulk will be entirely CGI just like Mark Ruffalo's Hulk. At least CGI is pretty great now and getting better. She Hulk's only superpower is her strength too, so they can't do one of those annoying Hollywood moves where they downplay the physical strength or muscularity of a female superhero here. She Hulk is nothing without her muscles and strength so that'll have to be a part of it, even if it's only CGI :(
At least they picked an excellent actress for the part, that bodes well for the chances for success of the show and getting more than one season out of it.
I'm not a comic book guy. My knowledge comes from watching the TV show as a kid.
Suggestion: have a conventional actress play the normal, calm role. That's the real dramatic "depth"; angry hulk just grunts. Then have a legit muscle woman play the hulk role and CGI her face to look like the actress. They only need look reasonably alike anyway.
Bonus: you can bring two legit, live actresses to promo events.
I have zero interest in primarily CGI movies anyway.
And if what I recall from the show is true, she needn't be CGI/morph ridiculous. Lou Ferrigno was a big dude, but I'm sure he can't throw guys 50 feet like the TV show.
*side note... I shared an elevator at the 2005-ish Olympia with him. He said "hi".
Whow would you like to ever be a she hulk, in movies or tv shows?
