The last weeks, it was possible to vote for a girl that has already been Girl of the Week. I suppose this is not as it should be, because when I nominate a girl who has been GotW I get a warning I have to nominate someone else. But by slightly altering the name (for example: Alesandra / Alessandra), you can still nominate her. Which could result in duplicate GotWs, and in links that lead nowhere.
This is working as intended, as if the names don't match then it's not considered a duplicate. I can't just assume that slight misspellings of names aren't different people, because sometimes they actually are, like someone with a last name of Davies vs. Davis.
I'd rather do this: If there's a duplicate option, message me about it, and I can delete it if it's ranked high enough in the votes to be worth bothering with.
Yes, if I catch or am alerted to a duplicate submission (that got through because it's a different name or a misspelling) and I'm not busy, I'll delete the duplicate submission.
Is there a way to prevent this?
