I think you are right Bat. But such nominal groups are not those that will cause the major up-coming world-wide catastrophe that will affect every single American and every other human on this planet. And this coming disaster has nothing to do with nuclear weapons or current political squables. When the 'thing' happens, it will be too late to stop it. And don't think Climate Change either.
My hint is that the gigantic mess will be triggered by one man.

Disclaimer: I voted for Harris/Walz and am strongly against Trump. Last night obviously didn't go as I wanted it to, and while it was honestly a shock when Trump took North Carolina and basically cruised to victory, looking back on what lead to that it honestly doesn't surprise me for several reasons:
First and foremost, there is a lot of blame to be had on the Democratic party. We have had three elections with rather weak candidates. I have been registered to vote since 2006, and the last presidential election where I felt genuinely excited and confident with who I was voting for was back in 2012. To put it bluntly, Biden is not a good president, and he got his win by basically not being Trump, and Harris did not do enough to separate herself from him. She had the challenge of having a shorter campaign window, but I feel that she went into it with I think a bit too much overconfidence in relying on a voter base that traditionally leans to the left. I wouldn't say she took advantage of them, but I think she assumed that those votes were guaranteed, but as the numbers showed, that was not what happened this election, ESPECIALLY amongst Latino men, which is my demographic.
And with regards to campaign strategy: she spent way too much time attacking Trump as opposed to detailing her planned policies and actions as President. For those of us who are against Trump, we already know all the things that she is attacking him on from just listening to him talk. It's a waste of time because attacking him isn't going to change the hearts and minds of his supporters or really those of the undecided. It's far more effective to talk about what you're going to do in office especially given that many Americans are struggling with rising prices and a tightening labor market. What's a common argument that you hear from Trump supporters? "He tweets mean things, but he helps me live better." Even if he can't and doesn't do those things (more on that later,) that is what the majority of the electorate will focus on, and that's what you have to tactically approach.
The other issue the Democratic has is that they are viewed by the right at the party of "elites," and they haven't done really anything to quell that. Trump is as populist as a candidate can get (and yes, the irony of him being that while he is a billionaire businessman is not lost on me,) and while nobody would mistake him for a member of Mensa, he is very, very good at cultivating a cult of personality persona. There is a reason that Trump says that he "loves the poorly educated." Not many people know what the extent of a president's power is, and he is very good as making promises along with casting blame on things that have little impact from the executive branch (like inflation.) He also is good a stoking fear, like his claim about there being open borders despite border crossings actually going down, or violent crime being a major issue despite it actually going down. Why read boring statistics from a dry analytical article or paper when you can hear a charismatic speaker stoke the flames of fear, along with him saying that anything that goes against what he is saying is "fake news."
You can't sway those supporters towards you, so Harris should have focused on not just her own party but the undecideds. Her losing wasn't just because of a "red wave," but also because of voter apathy where registered voters were not turning out to support her. And I say this as someone who was for her from pretty much her announcement of running: I went to the polls with a lot of apathy with the only motivation being that I didn't want four more years of Trump. That may have worked for Biden but you can't rely on the same strategy twice.
And to put it bluntly there are supporters who are for Trump because of racism, sexism and discriminatory attitudes towards LGBT individuals. Trump is a bully and acts like a bully towards people who question and challenge him. But unfortunately, you can't be guaranteed victory by calling out those behaviors. You have to win by policy strategy and separating yourself from an unpopular administration along with never assuming that you'll always have support from traditionally supportive demographics. Harris made all those blunders, and it cost her the election.
Evidently, Americans are already forgetting what fascists and Nazis really are. Hint: It's not someone who disagrees with your views or attends a Trump rally.

Both Blips and Bat are missing the point. But this isn't surprising considering where they are coming from. As it has been said since time immemorial: Those that ignore History are doomed to repeat it.

Whaddayaknow? The voters vested in a woman's ability to terminate her unborn with ease didn't drag Kamala to victory. And maybe it was a bad idea painting it so that voters were either with her or they're Nazis.
LOL! Oh Blips. Time will prove me right. And it isn't a question of normal vs abnormal. It is more a question of mass hysteria and delusional/complacent thinking. Those who voted for Trump yesterday will soon rue the day that they ever did such a foolish thing. Soon, the cards will begin to hit the table and things will look very grim indeed.
looks like he won the popular vote. are the voters not normal people or do you think its more likely that its just you who isnt normal?

I think it's interesting that this community is one of the most cognitive places on the internet I know of when we are forced to discuss politics. PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH!
You aren't the only person to feel that way Gatsby. Any normal person would be aghast at even the thought of a convicted felon, wannabe fascist and rapist winning the presidency. The World is watching and getting ready for possible crazy person and insane crew to maybe win. If that happens, goodbye job, apartment, savings, freedom and a whole lot more.

I have made this fantasy vicariously come true through my original characters. One of the main guys is pretty athletic and strong. A good fighter and also a competent slayer of bad people when he needs to be. Not particularly muscular but very solid. Definitely don't want to screw with this guy. But his lady goth empress is the real muscle (as well as the real killer and the real sadist) between the two. He could train for a thousand years and never begin to catch up to his beloved queen. And, they wouldn't have it any other way. They fucking LOVE it this way!
[shruggie-shrug] Can't helps ya there!
yea but that is not real life i liked to write stories like that deviant art with super human women being both good or evil .but i got banned from deviant art because you can't have a story with both sex and violence you need to choose between one or the other .i backed up a few on pixiv but the state of the modern internet is sad. i get no views on there and if i did they would probably ban me too
sometimes i fantasies about being weaker than my wife but the benefits of being strong are too good so i wish i was very muscular and strong so lifting heavy things are easier.

but the gym life is not for me it seems like most attempts to get strong end up in failure. but right now i am losing a lot of weight. i used to be fat when i did a lot of sports and was on a diet now i do way less yet i am less fat this doesn't make any sense .
It's always hilarious to hear the "jacked women only like jacked men" refrain here over and over. Just look at the women on this site who have pictures with their significant others, very few of those guys have impressive physiques.
Yeah, make way, get out the way. Lest you be trampled by this stampede of sexy, muscular pritty kitties thirsting for weak man cock.
Trump is quite right-wing on political and cultural issues, but a little left-wing on economic issues compared to traditional Republicans. This is because he has a large number of workers and rural voters who prefer left-wing economic policies.
However, whether it is tax cuts for the rich or anti-union, Trump is far from the traditional left.
I would say it's because he's a lifelong Democrat. But I admit I am being a bit biased by calling him liberal. I do so because the two top issues for me are always gun rights and the economy, on which Trump is very liberal. From a broader perspective, it would probably be more fair to label him as a populist, neither conservative nor liberal.
People can say they think Asian girls are the most beautiful or they only want to date African girls, but if the subject is changed to white girls, they will immediately be accused of racism. This is the hypocrisy of liberals. Many liberals think they pursue morality, but what they really pursue is the moral superiority when criticizing others
Hypocrisy is just part of the human condition for most. It can be found on both sides of the political spectrum. Democrats loved Obama because he campaigned on ending wars and bringing about peace in the Middle East. Instead, he bombed and incited conflict while his supporters remained mum. Trump actually had a peaceful term, and Democrats chastised him for being weak.
Republicans claim to be fiscally conservative, yet turned a blind eye to Trump's huge deficit, which was even bigger than Obama's (pre-covid), who they claimed was a socialist. Politics is full of hypocrisy. Socially, these same people bemoan identity politics and how much the left cares about race, yet they'll get up in arms if too many fictional characters in a video game are Black. They're all hypocrites.

Kamala ran a horrible campaign. She didn't do anything to motivate voters to vote for her, as opposed to simply encouraging people to vote against Trump—a huge difference. She gave the most generic speeches at every rally. She didn't do anything to distance herself from Biden, which was necessary given his low approval. She failed to address one of the top concerns: illegal immigration. She failed to meet young voters where they are. People under 50 aren't watching 60 Minutes, The View, etc. She needed to do more podcasts and other new media to reach younger voters. I could go on and on; it was just an absolutely awful campaign.
Then, boasting about endorsements from the Cheneys was just the icing on a big cake of stupidity. Doing that helps position Trump as the outsider, the anti-establishment candidate. Democrats should understand the value in running as an outsider better than anyone else, because it's one of the main factors that propelled Obama's runs. IMO, Trump's campaigns were simply the "Republican" version of Obama's. Trump, as old and out of touch as he is, made a significant effort to be hip, cool, transparent, and offer significant CHANGE. Kamala made no such attempts.
Additionally, I find it odd how liberals have complained about the racism that still exists in this country, yet they assumed that the racism exhibited by the Trump campaign would be his demise. It's as if they forget what country they were in.
As I stated earlier, American ignorance was being underestimated. I say ignorance based on several factors. Alleged conservatives have nominated (going back to the primaries) a candidate who is anti-gun, anti-free market, and fiscally liberal. Trump was by far the most liberal candidate in the Republican field. Additionally, the ignorance of not understanding or caring about the consequences of allowing such dangerous rhetoric to seep into our political discourse cannot be emphasized enough.
I especially want noticeably muscular arms/upper body. Plus having lots of muscle is just so convenient in everyday life.
^ lol well that's a ban
And Desantis killed Mickey Mouse, Dumbass
Republicans are the EXTREMISTS with BAT SHIT CRAZIES LIKE RFK & MTG.
NOW THE GOV'T IS THEIRS TO FUCK UP.
