You can now add tags to models directly

On model profiles you now see this:

You can change these by clicking "Edit tags" in the upper left:

When a model is tagged, all of their pictures come up in a search result for that tag.

Under an image, you'll see model tags that are inherited from the models in the pic in gray:

When you try to edit the tags on an image, the model tags won't show up in the form (since they're coming from the model profile itself) and they don't contribute to the 10 tag per image limit.

Unlike image tags, for models you can only select from a curated list, in essence tags which mods have manually set as applicable to models. These will generally be things like nationality, ethnicity, or sport. You can't make up new model tags or add tags that aren't model tags (like "biceps"). If you think an existing tag should be made a model tag, you should let us know.

I went through the first ~6 pages of tags and turned what I thought were appropriate into model tags, and then I ran a script to backfill these with models whose pics have already been tagged with them. (Specifically, the criteria was: if at least 2 and more than 5% of a model's images are tagged with it, the model gets the tag. I didn't backfill some of the older tags though because they're more noisy.)

I'm sure I missed a lot of them though, and there are probably many relevant ones past the 6 page mark, so I would definitely appreciate someone compiling them so they can be turned into model tags.

Thats a great update.

A little suggestion : maybe we could have a tag search in the models tab, alongside the name search.

Also maybe include in model tags some of the other website they are featured in, like HB, or OF, or C4S.

And I understand that it's better to have model tags manually set by mods, but maybe there should be a thread for suggestions, such as missing sports or countries.

Awesome! Would be nice to have "Polish" nationality tag. And maybe one for natural bodybuilding, too. Also: there are "slav" & "slavic" tags, which is basically the same :)

Some there are missing are spanish and icelandic

Let's not have a tag for natural bodybuilding lol.

There was one already, it's been made a model tag now.

And maybe one for natural bodybuilding, too.

We already have a tag for "natural bodybuilder" which is fine if it's being used for women who compete in actual tested natural bodybuilding competitions, not just women who people guess aren't using steroids (it does seem like the current usage of it might need to be cleaned up a little)

Also: there are "slav" & "slavic" tags, which is basically the same :)

Marged into "slavic" now.

I've enabled those, and all the other nationality tags I saw on the list, as model tags. Let me know if there's any others that need to be enabled.

I'd be doing my country a disservice if I didn't ask for Portuguese.

Ah, -ese, that was the suffix I forgot to search for (I already got all the remaining nationality tags ending in -ican, -ish, -ian, -ean, and a few others). Done now.

"Czech" has a fairly unique suffix, but plenty of images here asking for it.

If you're asking for new tags to be created, and not just for existing tags to be enabled as model tags, you have to actually tag some relevant pics with them first, otherwise they don't exist and there's nothing to enable.

You don't need to ask anyone to create a new tag, just start tagging fitting pics with it, that's the whole point of the custom tagging system.

please add Swiss tag

For instance this was already tagged on 6 pics, so that tag exists and we know fits at least some models, and I've now enabled it as a model tag. I also went ahead and applied it to the model pages of the 2 women who had pics tagged with it, so now that tag shows a half-dozen pages, since Dunja Bitar has a lot of pics.

czech

Exists, although only on 2 model's pics, and has been enabled as a model tag. That said, since it does seem to apply to Vladislava Galagan (she was born in Russia but moved to Czechia), and I added it to her model page, there are now 25 page's worth of pics for it, mostly her.

Just as a reminder, you don't need mod support to apply a model tag to a model's page, only to enable it as a model tag if it isn't one already. Also anything enabled as a model tag can still be added as a regular tag on individual pics, if it wouldn't apply to the model's entire gallery.

We’re missing Wellness as a tag.

I changed the tag name to "wellness competitor" for consistency with others like "figure competitor" and "bikini competitor", and enabled it as a model tag. I'll see if we can get "women's physique" changed to "physique competitor" for the same reason (it's a special case because of the amount of pics it's currently on).

In terms of actually applying those categories to models, I'm wondering how it should be handled for women who have switched competition categories, i.e. from bikini to figure to wellness to physique, etc. We could either tag the model with all categories they've competed in (which would lead to a lot of unfitting pics being tagged in some cases), or leave off the category tags entirely for those women, allowing the tags to be added just on individual relevant pics for them.

There seems to be a bug with "Slovakian" and "Macedonian", which are duplicated and freeze up when you try to apply them as model tags.

Thanks for reporting that. There was a bug that accidentally allowed duplicate tags, and once that happened the rest of the code couldn't handle it. I cleaned up the duplicates and fixed the bug. They should work now.
