FBBs that we saw at the Olympia 2024

Oct 16, 2024 - edited Oct 17, 2024 - permalink

Did any of you guys go to the Olympia in Vegas last week! I made it to the Expo on both days, and to the contest on Friday night. Here's who I was able to see:

Olympia Expo

Immediately upon walking in, I saw Fafa Fitness, who looked amazing and was incredibly gracious.

Chelsea Dion and Kortney Olson were both running their own booths and selling merch. Both extremely friendly.

Ecko Belle walked by me.. she had a cute little dog. Seemed to be in a rush so I just waved hello.

I saw Lenda Murray, who still looks incredible. There was a long line to meet her, and I sadly couldn't spare the time.

I briefly saw Paige Sandgren across the floor walking with a taller FBB that I couldn't make out.

I saw a ton of really buff women for powerlifting and crossfit. I don't really know anyone in those scenes, but some really amazing physiques.

Olympia Contest

This was my first time seeing the contest, and it was really great. Loud AF with a huge soundtrack. Not sure I would do it again, but it was fun as a one-time thing.

Of course I saw all of the ladies on stage, but I also got to meet both Kristina Mendoza (my absolute favorite FBB of all time) and Angie Yeo after the show. Both of them were in stage condition with their posing suits, and they looked INCREDIBLE.

I walked by Melissa Brodsky, who looked awesome. She's way bigger and wider (in a good way) than I thought she'd be.

Did anyone else go this year?

I met and took photos with Kristina Mendoza, Susan Graham and Sarah Villegas at the meet and greet. They were all nice and friendly.

I saw the Friday finals and it was great. I was mesmerized by watching the ladies pose.

The sound of the soundtrack/music was very loud at the beginning, but they lowered it a little later in the show.

It was my second time attending the Olympia, first time last year in Orlando. I liked this year’s Olympia a little more especially the venue.

Oh yeah, the music was deafening lol. I had nosebleed seats and my apple watch was giving me the "loud environment" warning.

Agreed, watching the posing was incredible.

I was sitting watching the prejudging most of the time. I barely walked around, I left after it ended because I was hungry. On my way out, I saw Valentina Mishina briefly, I complimented her and she thanked me. I think she was in a hurry and looking for her friends.

Haha yeah and I wasn't trying to buy the overpriced food at the convention center. I left a little early and got BBQ in the Arts District.

I went back to Resorts Worlds and ate at Junior’s, their food is great.

It was! That place is kind of mid as far as BBQ goes, but I like the overall vibe.

I had a pretty fun time at the Olympia Expo, for this year's Olympia I saw Shannon Sharpe as one of the main celebrities that walked around the expo.

Some of the big booths were interesting, plenty of energy drinks if you want to stay wired. Optimum Nutrition, Uprising, BSN, GAT, Prosupps, Raw Nutrition, all had relatively fast lines for freebies and goodies. In terms of more uh... pneumatic booth babes, I have to hand the badge to Dialed Moods and Titan Medical Center.

For more fitness celebrities, I think Reign had an awesome set up. Got a picture with The Mountain from game of thrones. BSN had a odd set up where it kinda splits between meeting athletes and grabbing freebies. I recall seeing Jeremy Buendia at GAT. Wolfpak had lots of Olympians in the meet and greet (most I recall were female athletes like Jennifer Dorie, Natalia Coelho, Jaclyn Baker, Wendy Fortino, Sunny Andrews). Mutant I recall seeing Shaun Claudia and Andrea Shaw as big names, but I also saw Lauren Martin Stow at the booth. Celsius had a few star atheletes. A lot of people lined up to grab a picture with Mike O'Hearn at Titan Medical, Buff Chick Supplements had Julia Rene, Recon1 with Dana Linn Bailey, and in the middle of Olympia Village I remember Ronnie Coleman.

Some odd booths I recall was Mr. Olympia Trading Cards. I did offer a 30% off at the very end of the show and they wouldn't even bother and I'm like... who would buy this stuff? They weren't cheap at all.

The big booth for Beyond Peptides was rather ... well empty and low energy. Dunno, not quite sure where peptides are at the moment, but seems like a gray market for the US.

Lots of competitors you can kinda view from the competition stage. I'll admit, some of the girls (especially the bikini ones) tend to look very similar...

The meet the olympian was kinda cool, though somewhat disorganized

I think that peptides (hopefully) got knocked out of the box. Some can work, some are bunk, some are harmful. There's just no way to really know.

HRT is easy to get prescribed and real gear is easy to order online. There's no good reason to mess around with unknown substances when the real stuff is more available and more affordable than ever.

Makes sense. One of the reps mentioned they ship from Europe and I got kinda bored and looked at their website.

"We accept multiple secure payment options, including bank transfers and cryptocurrencies."

It just... seems to be a bit more to the shady side

Yeah peptides and SARMS are super shady, and a lot of the domestic labs shut down recently. The stuff can totally work but you never know what's really going into it. Would not recommend.

That makes sense. Still weird it was one of the bigger booths there with really nothing being displayed or athletes to meet.

Lol...

"He accused the agency of its “aggressive suppression of psychedelics, peptides, stem cells, raw milk, hyperbaric therapies, chelating compounds, ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, vitamins, clean foods, sunshine, exercise, nutraceuticals and anything else that advances human health and can’t be patented by Pharma.”"

Welp. No idea where this will lead, but hope this doesn't strain the existing healthcare system more.

Okayyy so I’m not signing on to all this shit (lol at “exercise”) but peptides DO work and can be amazing. It’s documented.

The problem is that the FDA won’t/can’t regulate them so you have to buy them from a grey market. 85% of the FDA’s funding is provided by prescription pharmaceutical drugs, so they don’t pay attention to much outside of that.

A broken clock twice a day and all that.

I can see that, though wonder how tariffs would affect grey market products.

Hell, I actually do wonder what gym equipment and supplements that would still be around next Olympia.

Felt like a third of the booths were not from the US

It's interesting that you bring that up. I've gone to the Olympia for about 6 years in a row (except 2020 obvs), and I felt that it was the worst show for shopping and booths that I've seen.

Like some big brands like Celsius drinks and that ridiculous "Wolves" clothing that the young Broccoli hair guys at my gym were busy, but so many others were just dead, and their products were really cheap and weird. Like a whole table for magnetic bracelets. I brought cash with me but found very little to buy.

And tarriff-wise, we'll see what happens, but most of the supplements are made in the USA already. It's just not easy and cost effective to import them.

Yeah I'm thinking back, there weren't too many booths where people lined up to buy things. Actually I thought the freebie lines were pretty fast moving. I mentioned the weird trading card booth that didn't even offer a discount at the last moments of the expo (... who buys these things???). I mentioned the Beyond Peptides booth that was huge, but didn't really offer a lot of freebies, nor did they promote any of the athletes there. The teeth whitening booth was odd as well.

Hm, well, maybe not supplements but many of the big sponsor booths aren't from the US. Integralmedica is from Brazil, ESN is from germany, Newtech wellness is a Korean company, and I bet you half the clothing and weights aren't made in the US.
