to the surprise of no one, Andrea Shaw 5x
First, congratulations to Andrea. Second, this rivalry between Andrea and Angela is exactly the stuff female bodybuilding needs right now! And Ashley Jones taking third was her way of saying “I’m next!” I would have loved to see Ava in better condition for this event. Overall, I think this was the most competitive Ms. O lineup EVER!

It reminds me of Margie consistently coming second to Andrea. Angela was great but couldn’t dethrone the champion and right behind her is Ashley. The future is in good hands
Michaela Aycock finished 9th. Where does she go from here?
The same can be said about Sherry; she placed 4th last year and dropped to 8th. Thought she improved alot and was ready to make another splash this year

Maybe she starts to realize that sometimes less is more. It's not enough to outgrow your frame and be in spectacular condition.
Wow Ava Melillo last place is surprising to me. what happened?
Conditioning

Look, this is the BEST field of competitors in years, so 9th place among the absolute best in the world is nothing to complain about! I think it will be very difficult for Michaela to get into the top two if the same field shows up next year. Ashley Jones was a strong 3rd! And remember, this was her first Olympia! All things being equal, 1/2/3 are locked up for 2025. I think most would agree that the only thing that would have made this Olympia better is the inclusion of Anastasia Leonova. If she is able to make it next year, the boat will be rocked!! But congratulations to the producers and the competitors! This was a memorable contest!
I don’t know why half these women even bother with the shows. Andrea just has to show up and she wins. I’m not saying she didn’t look great, but to me there was like 7 women who could have won. Giving the title to Andrea 5 times in a row is so boring for the sport.
Well if any of them had a defeatist attitude they would have never made it to the Olympia stage to begin with.

If you believe there were 7 women who could've won, that means the sport is alive and well.

It looks like Andrea will only stop winning if she doesn't compete (and I hope judges notice she's not there so they don't declare her winner anyway :)) It's just like with Iris and others in past. In other sports where winner is clearly determined by performance compared to others, winning consistently in row is normal but is Andrea really absolute unbeatable and totally clearly best for fifth year in row? I love her much but bodybuilding contests needs something fresh or it will end with another pause like after 2014.
In another class, after Cydney Gillion won her 8th straight Figure title, she shocked everyone by announcing her retirement. With that, who will be the one to take the Olympia Figure crown in 2025? Lena Ramsteiner, Maria Diaz, Lola Montez, etc?

Regarding Alida Opre: its a guts feeling, not an insider info: this woman had the perfect timing: the European bodybuilders are mostly getting old, and the Alina Popa Pro event was fresh, so chances were not bad. It looks like she put everything into it.
Alida transformed within one year from a mediocre physice athlete to a top bodybuilder. No long term plan, pushing the limits in a all-or-nothing approach. If you look at videos from her au naturel ... doesnt look healthy, and I wouldnt bet much money on her in the coming years.
Probaly a different approach to many other stage athletes, but hey, the plan worked. She stood there with the best FBBS in the world, on the big stage. It paid off.
Some stage shots from pre-judging.
