Most strong women back then went for a strong fat build because their main goal was pure strength for work and self defense. but people back then also though it was more feminine and attractive. in modern times obesity is a problem so low body fat is seen as a good thing. but back then it was seen as a sign of being hungry.
I probably should have checked if she was already on the site, but most the activity seems to be about a decade ago so a refresh can't be too bad.
Still really interesting to me given how little traction she seems to have gotten despite clearly being pretty unique. Are there even any other examples of women with this sort of muscle from this era that involved in the circus? Crazy she might've been rocking guns like this in the 40s!
There's a big reason why old photos of muscular women, other than professional strongwomen and circus performers, are so rare. A common insult hurled against fit woman even today is "You look like a man." It was far worse in earlier times, before physical fitness became a thing, when women who did hard physical labor sometimes found themselves with bulging biceps. It was downright embarrassing for them.
I'll always remember a conversation between two women I overheard as a boy. They were talking about a mutual friend when one shook her head sadly and said, "The poor thing. She has muscles just like a man." I'll be their friend wasn't happy about her condition.
Nice post. I’m glad you brought her up. I didn’t realize she was already on this site.

The truth is that she is in that link with another surname: BergeRson, and here with BergeNson.
I'd like to know what other people think about this. It's an amazing discovery if it is genuine!
The fact that she lived so long after going so hard on steroids is astounding, really wish we knew how she was able to stay so healthy.. amazing. 😮

How easy it is to accuse! Do you have proof that she was taking steroids?
She practically only developed his arms: not his legs, back, shoulders, traps, delts, pecs, abds...

I came across this post on Reddit and thought I had to share it here given the amount of discussion that has gone on before about muscular women from the past. It's a set of photos I've never seen anywhere before depicting a Norwegian woman from the 1950s with an absolutely ripped body.
It's such a curious find that it almost seems hard to believe it's real. Nearly all examples of muscular women from the past often posted here are of circus performers, and Pudgy Stockton in the 1950s is most famously seen as the birth of women's bodybuilding.
But this woman seems to have been operating in the same era and absolutely blows the others out the water in terms of lean muscularity. As far as I can recall I can't really remember seeing any photos of a woman with a build even similar to this until the 80s.
So for her to have this sort of condition, at least 20 years prior, and be so completely unknown, and for absolutely all the images of her on the internet to be posted by this one Reddit account, seems almost unbelievable. There are a few comments in the thread with a little more information but absolutely nothing commenting on her outrageous physique for the time period.
I'm interested to hear some other people's thoughts on this. If it is real it's a very cool find!
