Guys pls dont make some dumb shit tags, use this new system responsibly. Edit: pin this thread for now so people can see it more easily.
Yeah, That's not how this will go.
It might be useful to have a set of "default" tags which you do not have to type and are buttons or something like before. Now you kind of have to guess which makes sense. Also what makes sense varies per person. I like skirts, so I could make a tag which is that. However, others might find that unimportant or not interesting, making them remove my tags.
Wouldn't private/public "list" be useful for a more neat way of people making a sorted set of images. For example, now I have to start a forum topic in which I have to place links, but a list/set would be nice, as you can see it directly. This will also prevent people to use the tagging system as such a list.
Great job! I’m sure this took a bit of work to implement. Excited to see the results.
Any plans to add subscribing to tags? Would be a great feature.
I liked how "static" and old school the old system was, but not complaining at all. I can already see a few tags I'd like to follow!
Few hours back I saw a few posts with incorrect tags like model's name or tags that are basically existing tags but reworded. Looks like you guys cleared that up before I got a chance to report. Hopefully moderating it doesn't turn out to be too much work.
Good job overall.
Are there plans to consolidate tags at regular intervals? I'm seeing a lot of similar tags with slightly different spelling (ex. "shoulders" and "delts/shoulders"). Could be an automated job that checks for synonyms.
Also props to the absolute madman who tagged 528 pics with "greek". This is what the site needs, no sarcasm.
Shoutout the ones who developed the tag system, genuinely out did yourselves and well worth the wait. I do think website users should learn to spell or check if there’s a preexisting tag😂
Great Change! I am really happy with it!
If I may put forth a small suggestion: With the new tag system it takes a bit longer to filter or select a tag than it did before. But you can actually have the best of both worlds if you would just tweak it so that when you click in the empty tags field, the dropdown will show a few of the top tags. The same is true if you delete your input or for adding the next tag. So you can quickly select common tags but still have all the flexibility of the new tag system.
Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Yeah I'll probably get to that at some point.

What seems to be happening is there's quite a few one-off tags with just a few images that are mistakes or just plain dumb, but the ones that get 50+ images are pretty cohesive.
Similarly:

I think it'll be too much work to worry about tags with <10 images, but once they start getting popular they'll get on our radar and we'll merge them. In fact I could hide such tags from the tag list or the autocomplete, unless you yourself created them, to make it less likely that these oneoff tags are used.

I could do this, although I was hoping the autocomplete would avoid the need for it. I tweaked the autocomplete so it now starts showing tags when you type just one character, down from 2.
My only other suggestion is combining tags with the misspelled ones. For example if you search “pecs” and both “pecs” and “pecs,” come up because of the incorrect spelling. Overall though genius idea!
There was a bug where I forgot to exclude tags with 0 pics from the autocomplete. I fixed it now.
One thing that would be a big help to everyone in the community is if you are adding tags to images with existing tags, please take a quick look and make sure the other tags make sense. Delete any tags that don't fit, such as "sleeve" when she doesn't have any sleeves, for example.
Also, now that we have a "transformation" tag, "body comparison" has become redundant in many cases, which was used as a substitute for many years. So again, if you're adding a transformation tag to images that already have body comparison, please remove the body comparison tag. Body comparison should now only be used for comparing bodies of different people, rather than the same woman against herself.
Good update. It's a potential recipe for disaster, but I'm gonna drink the Naive-flavored Koolaid and hope for the best.
EDIT: I haven't found any Tags referring to the "other" divisions, especially Physique and Bodyfitness - those categories encompass women too big for Fitness and too small for Bodybuilding.
I've just made some changes to the image tagging system. The main highlight is that image tagging is now free-form, and you can add any tags you want. The old tags have been ported over to this new system.
Other highlights include:
