Anyone going to Europe Pro in London?

Aug 29, 2024 - permalink

From 14th to 15h September.

One of very few events in Europe that has all women Amateur and Pro categories AFAIK.

I will be there. Anyone else?

Living in London, so naturally I'm going to attend it. Booked my (Bloody expensive) ticket for Saturday, still pondering for Sunday.

Is there any details on a website / instagram page? I’ve never heard of this ? Is it a good chance to meet and take pictures with people

Thanks Manny and Maddy.

I will be travelling on 13th sep and leave on 16th late evening. This will allow to do a bit of sightseeing and shopping as well, and from experience the day after the show its easier to talk to athletes.

More details on the show you can find here: https://npceuropeans.info/inspection-report/

No idea how "fan-friendly" the event is, but I booked myself in the same hotel where the show will take place. The minimum that you can expect there is athletes running up and down getting everything fixed for the event. The gym is usually stacked with women (and men) pushing weights, and in Bukarest there was also a pool where occasionally one jumped in or got out of it. I had my coffee a few meters away, red neswpapers and enjoyed the scenery. That sort of stuff.

One thing will not happen: getting into deep contact with the Pros. They have the tunnel view already before the show.

No problem, chilleus.

@MZaddy it has been announced at the beginning of this year, but you're right there hasn't been much noise about it despite potentially drawing a huge number of high-profile athletes, a month or so ahead of the Olympia. There are few confirmed athletes for WPD like Marina Kassinopoullou, Barbara Ménage, Natalia Spierings, etc but I haven't seen much for the other classes, including WBB. The Chinese sensation Yan Hong seems to actively prep for that show, judging by the flow of pictures she has been posting on her Douyin and IG accounts. Back in July, she was requesting a Visa to compete at this event.

In short, it has all the looks of a big show/Mini-Olympia with high stakes for a Olympia qualification, but yes, promotion of this show has been underwhelming to say the least.

The best time to take pictures is actually at the autograph session (usually one day ahead of the competition), or right after the shows. There are often corners where photografers take professional pictures. Usually the girls are quite friendly when they are asked for private pictures at the same place.

Approaching them somewhere outside of these spots is usually not very welcome. At least in my experience.

Oh ok I’m on the webisite mow would that be on the Saturday or the Sunday? And how do these expos usually work ? If it’s just after the show are they dressed in regular clothes or stage outfits I assume it’s harder to ask if they are in stage outfits

Doesn't feel much like an expo, just straight BBing contest. I guess there will be several occasions to cross paths or bump into athletes. I attended one of those NPC Worldwide/Olympia qualifier shows earlier this year, that was pretty much how it happened.

TBH I have never been to London IFBB Pro show, but usually the expos goes over a few days. In that case Id expect the expo to start on friday and end on sunday. There a a few booth with training equipment or supplements, with some sales people there. From my experience you can rarely find an athlete there. They are tied up with a meticolous schedule (training, eating, tanning, hairstyling, make up, press conference, training, eating, sleeping).

The best thing that can happen to us fans is when wings of strength is present at the expo. There you will see the one or other household name (Lenda Murray or Yaxeni Oriquen or Alina Popa).

As mentioned before, there are way better places to "integrate" with the bodybuilding people than the expo, especially when youre booked in to the same hotel.

But this pretty much only happens at us expos right? Don’t think I’ve seen wings of strength at uk apart from the Arnold’s

Ok, hello from the London Pro Show in the Sofitel at Heathrow. Anybody else around - please feel free to pm and lets have a coffee now or the odd pint later on.

And indeed, there is neither an expo nor wings of strength here. Also i have not seen any of the household fotografers or bloggers here, only AJ I have met so far.

I live in London and heard nothing about this competition.

Damn are there any big female bodybuilders?

Yes there are also pro fbbs, i think the pro events start at 5 pm (you may want to double check on the website). Athletes are all over the place.

Its close to heathrow terminal 5, Sofitel (10 minutes walk from the airport). If you decide to come, just give a shout.

Great lineup in fbb as well as wpd

I'm so jealous. I knew about this one but couldn't make it. A decent line up too.

FBB was great but WPD was even better. 20 pro athletes and the amateur show was way better than usual.

Was here since Saturday morning but had to leave after the prejudging. Impressive lineup, especially in WPD. Top 5 (Barbara Ménage, Manon Dutilly, Nadine Phoenix, Kristy Graham and Yan Hong !) was Olympia material.

NPC/Amateur show in the morning was also exciting with Kristy Graham and Natalie Edmondson winning their classes. And what about Michelle Jones, who won the British champs in 2007 at 21, making a comeback in WBB !

I've got some pics and I'll upload them later. Had some reservations the weeks before as I felt the show wasn't properly hyped as I could imagine but I must admit I was wrong.

Can't wait for the Figure and Wellness classes tomorrow.
