What's the psychological reason why a man might be attracted to a woman with muscles?

I had two extra theories I wanted to quickly get into.

Fourth and final one is that I think the entire trans phenomenon is driven by this idea. Not to "become one's true self" or "achieve one's true identity" that happens to lie in the opposite gender, but to become the object of one's desire. As in you can never have the girlfriend of your dreams, but you can try to become it.

The same could be asked as to why men like fat women or short women or a particular ethnicity or any number of different types of women(and the reverse for women who like a particular type of man). I'm definitely no expert on any of this, and I'm guessing most people answering here are not experts either, and I don't know the answer but it could be as simple as the man finds that particular type of woman attractive without any psychological reason for that attraction other than their own personal taste. Like the old saying, I don't know about art but I know what I like, and this could be similar.

So you're again one of those suggesting that something happens for no reason.

On the other hand fetishes are a form of over-sensitivity to a reason.

My theory is simple: Good old fashioned common sense.

Too simple to explain anything and also fails the definition of common sense.

I think we were just wired that way in the womb. I’m in my 50’s now but can remember as far back as grade 1,2 &3, I was already into athletic girls. We like muscular girls same way other men like tall skinner models, fat, big titties, no titties or just normal looking. It’s not as complicated as some of you on here make it sound like. I also don’t think it’s something you develop later in life, you either like it or you don’t.

I see no reason to believe that.

Especially when it's in some cases connected with masochistic tendencies.

Masochism is also sometimes related to contempt, which may remain unrecognizable without corresponding disgust.

Could a simple wish to prove themselves stronger and superior to others take the place of contempt or anger? A justified arrogance, perhaps? Certainly, undeserved arrogance by itself is, to use your words, contemptible. But when she looks at the (financially) successful men around her and sees their physical lack, surely some arrogance is warranted?

I dated a girl who had muscles and was a gymnast

I liked the latter much more than the former.. and she had more confidence and was cooler

A muscular or fit girl will be healthier. You can go out on hikes do some ohysical activities. She gets naked nothing sags. The fat girl on the other hand will age badly, doesnt care abiut what she eats and is most likely lazy.

Being muscular doesn’t necessarily translate to “healthy.” Lots of bodybuilders have been dying relatively young, and any bodybuilder would tell you that it’s a very unhealthy hobby (at the competitive level .) Hell, we even had a couple amateur bodybuilders drop into my CrossFit gym and they got crushed by a relatively medium-difficulty workout.

I am not talking about super roided walking pharmacies, this is of course extremely unhealthy. I am refering to natural/ fit girls who can lift or do crossfit without being stacked of peds or having crazy diets.

Sometimes there's an attraction to the idea that the woman could "handle" you.

I like strong women who crush other women more than I like them vs schmoes. I'm not sure where this fits on the scale. I've always preferred the domination be of a weaker women. I do love the super big good looking girls best. Off season over super cut. I became interested watching the Popeye cartoon Never Kick A Woman at a young age. That was fem vs skinny fem and I have liked that ever since.

Maybe she's presenting herself as the alpha female.

Maybe there's a pressure towards general part-object fetishism that simply feels more justified if it targets muscles.

I'm not attracted to body parts in my muscle interest. It is just the muscle and fighting part as in that 1st cartoon. I think you are looking for reasons that may not fit into a box psychology wise. There are a few others like me, but the vast majority are not into female vs female fighting or huge female muscles for the same reasons I apparently was attracted to it. I was age 4 or 5 when I 1st saw the Popeye cartoon.
