Do you think it's just an old age issue. a lot of people her age start having issues like this not just bodybuilders.

Whatever the cause, it's a very frightening ordeal to go under the knife for heart surgery.

One of the sweetest FBBs I've ever met. Wishing her a complete recovery.

PED use has been known to be detrimental to cardiovascular health, and given how Trudy was clearly on a lot of them (she had one of the deepest voices I could think of), it wouldn’t surprise me if her heart issues wasn’t JUST an “old age” issue.

She's 66 years old.

For many, there's a correlation between lifestyle and cardiovascular health, regardless of what that lifestyle is. There's also an argument to be made in the case of a bodybuilder that their physical strength helps them survive surgery and get through recovery. All the things are true.

Best wishes, Trudy!

We had a similar discussion in another sport forum (a forum about cycling) and we are agreeing the fact that, if sport is healthy, professional sport is strongly unhealthy. I think it applies in particular to BB. For sure, a lot of people have heart issue even of they have a safe and healthy lifestye: there is genetics, there is lucky. But professional sports, especially the ones involving PED, is a risk factor

So sorry to hear this. Trudy is a special person. I had a session with her years ago and she was so kind. I noted she had liver and kidney failure following surgery which isn’t a good thing. I wouldn’t be surprised if PED complicated things but at this point it doesn’t matter. My muscle fetish and lusting over spectacularly muscled females and males does have the downside that they might have chosen big muscles vs. their health. Fight on Trudy!

A person does not need to be in any professional sport involving PED. I do understand there is a lot more money riding on an individual's performance in any given sport. We've seen it in baseball, cycling, track and field, swimming let alone body building. This means that semi pros or the up and comers are also at risk. There are ads for men over 40 to take testosterone supplements which may be harmful in the long run.

I am really hoping Trudy can pull through this serious health issue. Remember, there is an open thread on Trisha Smick, age 55 on what she recently went through. As many have commented on this and other threads, it is the choice of the individual on whether or not to do PEDs. We can only wish FBB like Tifani Wittman a healthy and successful career. I can name many others but you get the point.

When you look at Natalia kovaleva how is any women supposed to compete with her without taking substances, one of the biggest problems with female bodybuilding.

That one's simple. It's not about size in practically all competitions. The judges have for years awarded higher placement to competitors who had better symmetry or overall package instead of just the largest girl there.

She passed away sadly.

Maybe it warrants its own thread, tbh.
