High Score Today

Perhaps I'm losing some mental acuity in my seventh decade on this increasingly troubled planet, but can someone explain to me why the images posted on "High Score Today" don't get swapped out -- every day?

Try not to think of it as the high score of the current calendar day, but rather the most recent 24 hour period.

Many images maintain the highest rate of points gained over a period spanning several days.

What it isn't: Images posted in the past 24 hours ordered by their score.

What it is: Considering only the favorites given in the past 24 hours for each image, rank them by this score.

This lets an image stay on it for potentially several days. However, after some time, they start to drop off the ranking as there aren't as many people newly favoriting it.
