A lot of gay men ARE into bodybuilding. You just haven't been to the right gyms. And usually, these aren't the guys getting hammered at the gay bar every week.

Oh yes, I get that. I'm Bi, so I've been with a few of them as well. I like muscles on everyone.
I was referring to the Olympia and the general industry side of bodybuilding. I spent two days at the expo, and there's a very strong conservative and macho vibe running throughout it. Lots of thin blue lines, lots of #2A shirts, lots of "Wolves Not Sheep" and a decent amount of MAGA hats. You could exchange the crowd with gunshow attendees, and the overall BMI and BF% would be the only functional difference.
I feel that being a pro bodybuilder who's out and proud is kind of frowned upon, no? Are there any really prominent MBB's who are gay or bi? Kai Greene is the only one who I can think of, and I think his schtick is more gay-for-pay. Genuine question, because I honestly don't know.
I do see a lot of queer & out FBB's, but I think that's less remarkable as we know... FBB's are simply way less important and valued than MBB's in the eyes of these organizations.
Uh, as for the entries on Nicole Bass - she was married to a man for most of her career, and basically gave up the ghost when he died. Obviously, I don't know what went on behind the scenes, but the point is, I don't think you do, either.
Christine Marrone was Nicole's partner not only that but she used to produce lesbian/straight fetish films back in the 90 so it was pretty obvious she had a thing for both men and women.

Couldn't agree more, and I was having similar thoughts at the Olympia expo this past weekend.
On its surface, bodybuilding is actually this very cool and counter culture thing.
On the male side, it's an unabashed celebration of the male body. Like... enormously muscular men who are nearly totally naked take a stage explicitly to show off their bodies to a thirsty crowd. The only other place that you could possibly experience this is maybe a male strip club.
On the female side, PED's cause their bodies to intersect with an enormous spectrum of physical traits that society considers to be masculine.
And there is a STRONG sexual undercurrent to all of this. Especially with the mens side. They like to pretend that it's all about a "sport," but please... of course strapping waxed and tanned guys wearing impossibly tiny and tight posing briefs is a sexual focus for lots of other men in the crowd. Maybe most of them.
So in theory, this could be an awesome celebration of self-actualization, people taking charge of their bodies, open-minded guys just celebrating the bodies of other males without any baggage.
But yeah... it's NOT like that. I don't know if it's overcompensation or whatnot, but the amount of tough guy posturing and palpable homophobia is insane there. I heard the "f" slur thrown around a bunch of times. It really is a bummer, as this could actually be such a fun and inclusive environment. It's impressively racially diverse and the contenders seem to come from all sorts of social and economic origins.
