I think "most commented" would be a near repeat of "high score today"...
You can re-favorite an image to bump it to the front page, but there is a cooldown period so that if you do this too often it won't actually get bumped. Also, even if you do this, it's likely to only be on the front page for a few minutes due to how fast that section moves.
Try seconds. I checked, after re-favoriting an image I clicked back and 10 seconds later it was at the bottom of the list.
I don't understand this "low effort comment". Are we all supposed to have PHD's, and write a lengthy appreciation of a pic or video we like. Sounds ridiculous to me!
There's not much point to asking for an ID--or providing one, correcting one, or providing other info about the subject of the pic--if nobody's going to know that a comment was made.
I don't care at all who's been "favorited" by others, and I don't do that very often myself. I save pics and videos I want to look at again. Maybe I should "favorite" every pic I save, but I only save a couple a week. A large proportion of what I open turns out to be disfigured by dermal lesions ("tattoos") or bilateral upper ventral mutilation ("implants"), which I don't want to see again and would "disfavorite" if that were an option.
Frankly, I don't care who is Favoriting what or who is Commenting on what.
As one of the originals on this site (early 2009), I've long known the identity of the uploaders who put up the good stuff that I like. I also know who, for me, the good commenters are.
If someone wants to Favorite 50,000 pictures/clips, that's their deal although I can't imagine why. I'm with Winstanley where he says, "I save pics and videos I want to look at again." My personal limit of Favs is 2,500 with some repeating of models. If I get close to my limit, I go in and purge some out so I can still easily find stuff.
I have no idea how much coding would go into it, but wouldn't it be a great idea that everyone could select what they'd want on the frontpage?
Looking at the comments in this thread, it seems pretty obvious to me that everyone has a different opinion on what they'd want to see, so why not give the entire list of "sort options" and let everyone select what they're interested in.
I too, like the recently commented idea, but I know that there is a filter for that.
I get the idea of discouraging "low effort" comments. As someone who has tried to be at least a bit creative and (hopefully) a bit humorous with my comments over the years, I wonder if this will tend to hide my comments from more of the members. Then again, that might not be a bad thing. Ha! :/

Wouldn't this basically be your favorites list?
The problem with the "Recently Commented" section was that it created a link between leaving a comment to bumping an image to the front page, thus incentivizing low-effort comments just to get an image more attention. This incentive no longer exists, since recently commented images no longer show up on the front page.
My hope is the new "Recently Favorited" section has more or less the same benefit as Recently Commented did (showing you a selection of images other users are interacting with that you might not have otherwise seen) without the drawback of incentivizing behavior we don't want.
Maybe this is over analyzing but I always kind of thought the fact that comments would put a pic in the 'recently commented' section and get it more views and likes would actually disincentivize a lot of the nasty or whining comments that can really make the comments section bad.
Not only that and I don't know how many others I speak for here but the interest in seeing/interacting with what someone else said about a picture (really any picture tbh) far out-weighs any interest I have in what picture someone else wants to look at. These are two different things that were artificially brought together by the 'recently commented' section, and now not only has the interesting part of that pairing been removed, but extra emphasis has been placed on the part that I don't care about. It's basically now just a high-turnover random picture section, which to be fair isn't necessarily a bad thing. But it's clear that the part people are disliking the most is the removal of the option to see who's saying what. And I don't really ever recall reading publicly posted complaints from people saying things like "Oh wow I sure wish all these [censored] people would stop making these stupid low-effort comments just to exploit this section." I didn't look very hard though and maybe there was a thread about it somewhere. Maybe the site owners were getting a lot of complaints?
Nope, terrible idea. Can we at leat have both?
Recently favorited is completely uninteresting, anyone can favorite anything, there is no engagement there. But a comment is something worth looking at, it is interesting to see what others think of a picture.
Just showing random images would have the same effect as this, actually it would be better, as old forgotten gems could show up, that nobody discovered yet.
Edit: plus without the recently commented section it is basically pointless to comment on anything older than a week as nobody will see it or answer it ever.
There also seems to be a lot of redundancy between the high score section and recently favorited section for obvious reasons.
No problem with the way it is. I usually stick to the ones I've "subscribed" to and don't have a log of attention to the the different sections, other than scrolling through them.
I always liked the Recently Commented section. If you need to make room on the home page, I would vote to lose the Recommended For You section. I have never found it to be of any use here.
I think this is a very interesting option.
