Why is this imageboard even indexed by google?

Jan 19, 2022 - permalink

I find this quite weird. A lot of women posted on this board are people that are doing fitness/bodybuilding as a hobby and thus results of this boards are quite high if you search for those persons on google. If you browse this page for a few minutes, it's pretty clear that this board is more of an erotic nature (yet still sfw). I can only guess how intimidating it must feel to google your name and find pictures of you on a weird image board (or employer, friends); sometimes with naughty comments. I see no reasons for not having a robots txt that disallows everything but the start page and whitelists everyone who really want to be indexed. I see simply no reason why this should be indexed. It also is a relatively high burden to get blacklisted on this page as it appears that as a woman who wants to be blacklisted here needs to id herself to those (pardon me) weirdos hosting this site.

A lot of image boards do similar things, yet most of them are not indexed or searchable by google.

Because of this, it always feels a bit like a guilty pleasure to use this site.

Because the benefit of having an influx of new users outweighs the drawbacks you outlined. All online communities need a steady stream of new users in order to remain healthy long-term.

Because of this, it always feels a bit like a guilty pleasure to use this site.

Would you feel less guilty if the site was exactly the same but due to it not showing up on Google, all the activity would be in secret, behind the women's backs? The way it is now, if anyone's images have been used without consent they can find out fairly easily and request to have them removed.

Yes, because it is not the common public that's around here. Google however one's first draw to do research on someone. Also consent is not given in most of cases. If it would, this image board would not work. It's also not a rule here.

To reduce obstacles it would be imho the least to inform the women that they can have their images removed with a link to a form or email address at the image overviews and every image page.

There is a "report abuse" link at the bottom of every page.

Interesting conclusion. Speaking as a private individual, I do not feel guilty that someone has elected to aggregate and share access to images from the public domain under fair use doctrine. Speaking as a corporate copyright owner, I do not feel guilty that someone has elected to aggregate and share access to images from the public domain under fair use doctrine.

Speaking once again as a private individual, in 2022, I think it's mostly a mistake to treat adults like naïve babes in the woods. Maybe I'm the naïve one, having grown up with the WWW, but acting like all things internet should be like Care-a-Lot (home of the Care Bears) is so much folly.

Suggesting that models* should be "protected" from what amount to public information sites seems to undermine any model's agency in a rather patriarchal way.

*Note: I'm speaking only of persons who willingly posed for images - professional or not - and who were at least 18 at the time.

I doubt many of them have a problem with it considering most of them show off their muscles on other social media platforms anyways.

There is nothing wrong with sexuality and sexual/aesthetic appreciation. The women who upload their photos to social media want to be seen. Leave your medieval morals in the monastery.

I agree. I don't think there are any images that weren't already posted elsewhere. Regardless of where this site is returned on Google searches doesn't change anything in my opinion.
