Do people really give clicks to a photo only because it has a high score? The only scoring that counts for me is mine. If I like a pic, I'll give it a click. That's all. Maybe tuabuela is baffled why so many of the photos in the top scores daily list are so meh. I am so baffled myself. I might give one of them a click every 3 days or so (but there are usually some I've already clicked on earlier).
Yeah i don’t think anyone gives a shit about favoriting a picture simply because the score is high. The highest scores are the pictures that appeal to the largest amount of people, which makes sense
We all have pretty darn similar tastes, so it's not surprising the high scores score high.
I don't care about score when I click on a picture. If it looks interesting to me I click. And I think YouTube disabled downvotes because people were not watching bad or scam videos. Almost all highly downvoted videos had a clear reason for it. But now you need to watch the video or read the comments to find out.
I have noticed that on GWM there is a tendency to give more favorites and +1 to images with a higher score.
Internet users we have this tendency to click on the highest scores without paying attention to the image. This happens on all sites. YouTube recently eliminated the downvote count for this reason.
Also, on GWM the high scores stand out a lot, because their green color gets lighter the higher they are.
I'm sure there are many images with inflated scores because of this.
That's why I think it would be a good idea to hide the scores and show them only when the user clicks on favorite or +1. In the "highscores today" section, the scores would not be shown either. Only the images and names would be visible.
