Was at the very famous Columbus Farmers Market (the Market as we call it around here in NJ - at one point was the biggest flea market in the country). Anyway, they had a magazine store in there and I was just kinda lookin around, was pickin up some bodybuilding/nutrition type magazines and one of them was like a special addition. It was something like a Muscle & Fitness, a big brand kind, and right on the front cover made it obvious this was an issue of all muscular women. This special addition issue or whatever was made specifically for guys like us. Now it wasn’t that long ago, maybe 13-14 years ago, so I was like 16-17, and I could easily look it all up online. But it was like a bit of a thrill to bring it up to the girl at the front. She definitely grinned a little and was shocked by the muscular woman on the front. And I think I even remember her saying something like, “whoa you like this?” And of course I was just like hell yeah. I should Have kept talking to her about it since she seemed a little interested.

I bought a few more issues there, then when they closed, I was lucky enough to find a couple of newsstands that sold them locally as well. I remember some clerks giving me a comment or look when I bought them, so I said I was buying it as a joke or doing a research project on bodybuilding, but I think they knew better, and I didn’t care. I really miss the anticipation of seeing a new one on the shelf every month/other month. This was the first one I bought. I got rid of them when I got engaged. Big mistake. Regret it to this day. As great as the internet is, there was and is nothing like the actual hard copies.

I don't see anything about hard copies. They're digital downloads. Have you actually bought any printed magazines from that site?
What a good topic comes out to the talk. Sorry about my english in the first place. In Latin America it was even more difficult to find copies of the magazines. I went to special businesses where foreign books and magazines come, there I came across the first issue of WPW, this Sharon Bruneau with a black bikini and flexing her beautiful biceps. I almost died of excitement. this was around the 90s, 92s. I had to work hard to have more copies of WPW and FLEX. Greetings.
Yeah for the magazines they just have downloadable versions. The videos they still sell on DVD, and that's actually the only way to buy a lot of them (plus, the video quality is usually better than the downloaded versions).
If you want hard copies of the magazines, ebay seems to be the best bet, I've seen a lot floating around there.
I never actually bought WPW in-person, I wasn't even aware it was an actual magazine until years after knowing about their website. I did buy a few issues of Muscular Development Magazine that advertised female pictorials on the front and whatnot. I also have a memory of catching a glimpse of the cover of some bodybuilding magazine with a huge woman in a white bikini doing a back double-biceps pose and the cover article something like "Are Female Bodybuilders Getting Too Big?" that I've never quite forgotten (I was with parents at the time and couldn't buy it), but I'm not sure what magazine it was. It would have probably been in the mid 90's or so.
Early to mid 90's years, teenager. Only one store I knew of in area sold it. It was a sporting goods store. Embarrased first few times I bought it, but after while didn't care. I would usually buy it with a couple other bodybuilding magazines. Always looked forward to new issues being on the stand.
Lol, I could write 4 or 5 stories off the top of my head on this one. The funniest one was coming home from Atlantic City with the copy JBL2018XX posted when I was 18. I never knew when/where I would find an issue and seeing Sharon Bruneau made it a must have! The problem was I had nowhere to put it for a two-hour bus ride home with my mom. The only choice I had was to hide it in the Sunday paper. For those of you too young to know what a Sunday paper looks like it was extra larger with many different sections. So, I'm sitting next to her the entire trip sweating her flip thru parts praying she doesn't open to WPW. Thankfully, she fell asleep, and I managed to slip it under the couch the second we walked in the door. One of the most stressful trips of my life but I can look back and laugh now...because I got away with it.

My fondest memories are before the WPW magazines even came out! I'm referring to WASP and WSP...those black and white issues in the mail. I had a secret Post Office box and my heart would race in anticipation of a handful of pages of those beautiful, muscular women, every time I opened the PO Box. 🤯🥵 Once I started buying the glossy mags, in a store....I was too excited to be ashamed. The store owner was an elderly woman and she never really reacted.
So yeah I've told this story before on saradas. But I've only bought this magazine once and here's why. I was 16 and was well aware of my love of muscular women. I knew of this mag but never actually seen one sold anywhere. Imagine my surprise when one random day, during my shift at the grocery store I was working at the time, I pass by the magazine rack and there it is. A goddamn WPW mag front and center. So, of course, after my shift was over that evening I bought one. Simple right. Should have been. Problem I didn't imagine the attention that would bring. So I get up to the register with my mag and a couple sodas and as soon as the guy there sees it, he picks it up and says rather loudly, "ewwwww gross!" He said that loud enough where multiple people turned around to see what the commotion was about. I was embarrassed. I knew the guy. We weren't friends or anything but we were at least cordial. And when you hear the term neckbeard he'd be the poster child for it. He was a fat ass in his mid-40s who looked like he maybe showered once a week, still lived with his parents, and he was rocking that ridiculous 1960s bowl cut. Just the fact that this fucking loser had me feeling ashamed for buying this mag just pissed me off. I loudly proceed to tell the guy what a fucking asshole he is. If he's gonna draw attention on me then I'll happily do the same to his pathetic ass. Even had the gall to say, "why would you buy that?" Like it was any of his damn business. Things got heated enough where a couple of the managers had to come out and calm the situation. Either way, we avoided each other from that point on. And I'm not too proud to say I stole every new copy that came out after that. Sucks that self-checkout didn't exist back then.
@tag....I feel your pain and frustration. When other people call the women we find so breathtakingly hot...GROSS, it can indeed have a negative effect on us. I'm an older guy...so my early interest in muscular females drew even more ire and shock. I used to get close to the television as a young boy, during circus shows, transfixed, wide-eyed, as the trapeze ladies did their acts. My mother used to say ewwwww, gross, ugly...they look like a man. To me, their muscular arms were so beautiful but my mom made me feel like a weirdo.
I discovered female bodybuilding in 1984 at the age of 12. The first time I remember seeing "Women's Physique World" was in the spring or summer of 1986. It was the Spring 1986 WPW issue with the beautiful Mishay Santos on the cover. I just couldn't get over how such a pretty and feminine woman could be so strong and muscular at the same time. It absolutely boggled my mind. I loved her look, but I was too embarrassed to admit it to anybody. It was easy to look forward to the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue each winter (and I did!!), but the new phenomenon of mid-80's female bodybuilding absolutely captivated me in a very private and secretive way that went way beyond the "normal" woman. My teenage self couldn't let anyone know that I was "into" muscular women. These women were so different from my mom or my friend's moms or even my older sisters. These women could flex a bicep with a beautiful smile on their faces and make you love it!! And did I love it!! I still do.
The first one I ever saw had Lori Bowen on the front, I was 14 at the time. This started a fascination with this magazine, I wanted to see the next issue more than I wanted to see a Playboy.
The Krista Parr and Kay Baxter covers were insanely good.
Used to buy mine at Midway Liquor on Midway Drive in San Diego during the 1990s. I recall being a little uptight or self conscious when I approached the counter to pay for the magazine, but the desire for a female muscle fix overrode all of that. Some good times back then!
