Implementing a Darkmode

Jul 17, 2021 - permalink

lets be honest, a few of us may not be used to sunlight and might enjoy a darker experience on this website. So we could implement a darkmode, if this gets enough attention, right? What are your thoughts?

Like a black background/white text? Sure, I'd be for it. Android phones seem to have that option already in battery saver mode where it automatically converts certain apps to dark mode. I'm not sure what kind of coding that would entail, so that would be up to Chainer as to whether he'd be willing to implement it.

Can't be too hard to implement imo W3Schools has a tutorial on it.

It's unlikely I will get to this, especially if 3rd party addons exist that basically do this. I encourage you to use those if they provide a decent browsing experience.

I have dark mode for android

1.Open Google Chrome on your Android device.

2.Type chrome://flags in the address bar and press Enter.

3.In the search bar at the top, type “dark”.

4.Look for the option labeled “Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents”.

5.Tap the Default dropdown and select

6.Enabled. Relaunch Chrome to apply the changes

I used a dark mode addon but it would sometimes invert the colors on pictures.

I would absolutely LOVE that. I have sensitive eyes so this huge field of eye-searing white is kinda rough.

Same. That's why I asked about this a few weeks ago. I'm using a Firefox extension mentioned in my string and it works nicely.
