GotW vote fraud

Over the past week someone decided to register a bunch of burner accounts and submit fake Girl of the Week votes.

I've deleted the fake votes. As a comparison, this is what the vote totals were before the deletion:

This doesn't change the winner, Leana, but it does make it so that she wins by miles as opposed to it being a tight race. The fake votes were mostly for Kim and a bunch of other women who aren't Leana.

I wonder what the purpose was...seems like a lot of effort for something so miniscule.

From the forum, I've learned that some of the users here are more thoughtful than I suspected. I've also learned that some are weirder than I ever imagined.

I did some cleanup just now but it didn't result in too much of a drastic change, unlike last week. (Deliberately being vague about what I did to make it harder to get around it.)

Especially heavily affected were: Gwan Si Mul, Cassiane Buzan, and Jang Mi Yeong.

It's so wild, and sad, that people are screwing with the votes.

It's crazy to me, that someone(s) would actually spend time doing this. Why? Is there nothing better that they can do with their time?

It’s so weird to me. I can’t figure it out. You can’t blame it on competitive nature either because they’re not competing, just voting. I just find it so strange that someone is this compelled to have their favorite win.

I was wondering, would there be a way to organise a "manual" vote confirmation system? I know that, for example, on Reddit, it's common to have votes where you go to a strawpoll or something like that and enter your user name. Then, the organiser of the vote manully confirms each that's accompanied with an active username from the community, and that's how they get accurate results. But then, it only works with small-ish communities...

Some people have way too much time on their hands. Can't imagine how much time and effort it took to do that cheating.

There's this guy who's obviously hopelessly in love with Tifani Wittman. He posts some great stuff, but I'm 99% sure that he uses several accounts to complement her looks and to defend her from people pointing out the obvious steroid abuse. He most probably added Tifani three times to the voting. Obviously, that doesn't help her chances.

It is true that it is very difficult for a big FBB to win the GOTW. I have proposed Natalia Trukhina and Margie V. Martin several times, but they have been unsuccessful. The problem is that the people who vote are a small group within GWM, and they clearly don't like big ones.... By the way, Natalia appears twice as well.
